How to Install New Frontier Craft

Part 1: Downloading Java

  1. Go to this website: www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
  2. Download the one for your operating system. (If you're on Windows, you want the 'Offline (64-bit)' version.
If you already have Java installed, you can skip this step.

Part 2: Using the Installer

  1. Download this jar file here: cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/504856228569022478/732297350139084831/NFCInstaller1.5.jar
  2. If you haven't already, open the Mojang launcher, run version Beta 1.7.3 once, then close it and the launcher. (If Beta 1.7.3 is not there, enable historical versions at the bottom of the Settings screen in the launcher).
  3. Run the jar file and click the button labelled 'Install'.
  4. Open the Mojang launcher, (restart it if it was already open), create a profile with the new instance, and enjoy NFC!

If it throws an error, try deleting the b1.7.3 instance in the instances folder of %appdata%/.minecraft, running the Beta 1.7.3 instance from the Vanilla launcher to reinstall it, deleting the NFCinstaller folder in the .minecraft folder, and then running the installer again.

If this still fails, scroll down to the manual installation section of this page, download the zip, extract the contents of the archive into the "extract" folder of the NFCInstaller folder in .minecraft, and rerun the installer.

Betacraft Guide

  1. Download Betacraft from here & run
  2. (Optional) Click the Instances button on top middle of Betacraft window, click New Instance, name it whatever you like, and click select.
  3. Click Edit Instance, click Mods Repository, double click New Frontier Craft, click the latest version of NFC (v3.4.2), click Load, and click Close.
  4. Click Play
  5. That's it

Part 1: Setting up MultiMC

  1. Go to this website: https://multimc.org/
  2. Choose the download for your operating system, extract the archive to a new folder and run MultiMC. If you’re using Linux, remember to make it executable before you try to run it. If you're using Mac, just drag it to your apps directory. And if you're using ChromeOS, follow the guide here for installing MultiMC with Crostini. You can choose the development version, it usually has extra fixes and features included, but may not be stable yet.
  3. Choose your preferred language.
  4. Select the Java version you want to use for Minecraft. The option marked with an asterisk is recommended.
  5. Set the memory allocation options for Java.
  6. Complete the MultiMC installation.

Part 2: Installing the NFC Instance

Part 3: Launching MultiMC From the Desktop (Optional)

The MultiMC '--launch <instance ID> (-l <instance ID>)' command line argument allows you to launch the instance without opening the main MultiMC window.

The Instance ID is the name of the instance folder in the “instances” folder. If it contains spaces, specify the ID in quotation marks. For example, if you’re using Windows and your instance ID is “NFC v3.4.0”, you can create a shortcut to MultiMC.exe and add a option: MultiMC.exe -l "NFC v3.4.0".

Using this shortcut, you can quickly launch directly into NFC without needing to open MultiMC.
